Change your perception about bowls, because JACK ATTACK just made things interesting
The Beecroft Club is looking to bowl over a new audience for the sport of bowls, with the introduction of a Bowls Australia-backed Jack Attack initiative.
Jack Attack is designed to increase social participation in the sport of bowls, by filling the current gap in the market between competitive play and barefoot bowls. It is a social, fast-paced format that appeals to people wanting a short, sharp game with more structured competition than barefoot bowls.
Jack Attack will be played over four weeks, on 11, 18 and 25 October and November 1.
Teams of three. Join as an individual or bring your own team. Friends or work colleagues. Anything works on a Friday.
6 – 7 pm for the game then stay for dinner.
$10 per person per game.
Mixed triples – down to the last bowl – Again!
Congratulations to Scott Byrnes / Jane Byrnes / Craig Davis on winning the Mixed Triples in a nail biting affair against Bob Catherall / Merryl Gray / Neill Harrison.
Neill’s team had it in the bag with two bowls on the jack and only one bowl left in the opposition’s arsenal. So how did he do it? Craig slammed down his last bowl and took both sitters out. Not a bad effort! Well done to both teams for providing us with such an exciting match.
Shirts or skirts
Our annual Shirts v Skirts competition is on Monday 7th October (Labour Day Holiday).
The prestigious Russell Farr & Associates Cup will be up for grabs again, and the ladies will be all out to grab back the title they lost last year. The day will commence at 12 noon with a sausage sizzle, then followed by bowls
$15 for bowls and $5 for lunch. Put your name on the board.

The Grass Patch
Getting there! The turf is in place and the cubby house taking shape for any would be princes and princesses!
Parents must supervise their children at all times and we are helping you do this. We have some new tables and chairs for you to relax at the end of the verandah while you watch your children – try Friday night dining or Sunday barefoot bowls.
We don’t have the fence yet but not long now!
Zumba anyone?
Have you been following Juliana on Facebook?
We are excited that she is bringing Zumba to The Beecroft Club on Saturday mornings.
Juliana says that Zumba toning is perfect for those who want to party but put extra emphasis on sculpting to define those muscles!
Be ready to leave exhilarated and empowered!
Babysitting bowlers
Mothers, fathers, grandparents with pre-schoolers
Why not play an hour or so of bowls then stay for coffee? Let the children play on the Grass Patch at the end of the verandah. Take turns with your friends at supervising the children or all chip in for a babysitter. It is up to you.
What do you think? We would love to get this initiative up. Perhaps once a week or once a month. Drop us a line beecbowl@bigpond.com
Short games for the time poor
At Beecroft we recognise that life is busier than it ever was. You still want to stay fit and play sport.
Our short games: 3 pm – 4:30 pm Saturdays offer the usual competition and skill of bowls in a short format. If you are not yet a bowler we will provide free coaching.
The bar is open 3-6 pm. Come down for a pleasant Sunday afternoon. We have heaters on the long, wide verandah, or join us inside and watch the football on the big screen.
