AGM of The Beecroft Club
Monday’s AGM was well attended. It was the culmination of a successful year at The Beecroft Club: we see the benefit of new bowlers, and the introduction of Friday dining with Longhorn BBQ, and barefoot bowls on Sundays and Fridays.
It has been an empowering year. We have seen the strength of the club and its members, both long term and new, in working with the board to achieve success.
The Club continues to be well supported by local
community groups such as Beecroft Probus Clubs, Beecroft Garden Club, NSW Royal Horticulture Society, the Ecclesia Mission, Beecroft Yoga, bridge and chess clubs. This year we have also added dance with Latin Ballroom, pilates and Zumba with Juliana
Presentations at the AGM
It was an honour to present life membership to Ken Harrison and the Beecroft Medal to Jan Morris and Brian Murphy.
Ken Harrison has been on the board of The Beecroft Club, holding the office of Treasurer for 14 years. He has also served as Treasurer of the men’s bowls club for much of this time. Participation in the finance committee has seen the good performance of our investments in difficult times. Ken is always a strong supporter of club functions and inter-club events. He is also a consistent bowler and was part of the 2017 team to win the club triples competition.
Brian Murphy has been a strong bowler for Beecroft, being part of a total of ten winning club fours and triples teams over the years. It is however Brian’s tireless efforts in Dad’s Army and other working groups around the club that are particularly recognised in this award. Brian consistently, quietly and generously gives his time.
Jan Morris has been recognised for her contribution to the quality of bowls played at the club. She began as a coach and umpire and continued in this role formally for 12 years. Later Jan was the president when our club turned 100. She has represented Beecroft at Pennants as a winning skip, has been club champion on two occasions, including in 2019, and has been part of winning club triples and fours team, along with being part of the State mixed pairs playoffs in 2019. Jan clearly sees the pattern for organising bowls in her role as match committee co-ordinator. Jan’s organisational talents are recognised throughout the district.
Come to a BBQ
And add a game of bowls.
Jackpot bowls is on again on Thursday 7 November. Game starts at 3 pm.
This is not a trivial fact: If you don’t put your name or table forward by tomorrow, Friday we will sadly have to cancel the event.
Club Christmas Party
Friday 13 December
Our traditional Chairman’s and Presidents’ Christmas Party.
