State play-off
So proud of the girls!
August 2018: A couple of windy days at Bateau Bay saw our Grade 3 Pennants team at the State playoffs. They were in impressive company. Karen Murphy, no less, was coaching the Cabramatta team they met on Friday, and on Thursday the competition was similarly hard core!
We are immensely proud of our girls for making it to the State. As usual a strong contingent of Beecroft supporters turned up. BIAS got the report and was told that each and every one of the team put down legendary bowls. We may not have made it to the semis but the scorelines show Beecroft isn’t to be ignored!
Hear is what Lyn said:
“We had a lovely time and I feel we played well and did not disgrace ourselves at all, the first game on Thursday against Inverell we lost by 10, the second game in the afternoon against Commercial Albury we lost by 1 and then yesterday the draw with Cabramatta. The weather was lovely thought the breeze was chilly especially on Wed afternoon late the temp dropped and it was freezing. The greens were extremely fast but very smooth the arrangements for lunch and morning tea was very good.
“Dawn was a wonderful manager and with back up of Lyn Beaumont reserve every base was covered. Neill did a great job as photographer.
“Importantly thank you very much for the support of the people who came up from Sydney to support us Ken McLennan and Ken Harrison arriving with a car load of passengers. It was lovely to see Nola Biggers there as well, Sonia had stayed with her.”
How about our coaches!
Richard Morris and John King must be legends! Cabramatta had Karen Murphy and Aaron Wilson but we still managed to beat them on one rink and draw with them over all. Well done boys!

Tuesday 8 May. Following Beecroft’s win in Macquarie, today the team played against Mitchell Grade 3 to see who would qualify for the State Finals in August.
All the grades were there at Castle Hill today to playoff. Castle Hill Grade 1 beat Carlingford, Gladesville Grade 2 beat Blacktown Workers, Beecroft Grade 3 beat Toongabbie and The Hills Grade 4 beat Brush Park.
It was a beautiful sunny day and we had loads of spectators from each club. It was thrilling to see so many Beecroft supporters and our girls didn’t let us down.
Jan’s team did a great job of coming up after an early deficit and everyone of her team played their heart out. Their score was 22 to 18 and Lesley’s was 24 to 13.
After the game was lunch in the auditorium and medals were presented to everyone in a winning team,
The State finals are 8-12th August at 1 of 4 venues at the Central Coast.
