You can’t deny Beecroft bowlers support each other.

Pairs by Checkbox 3D

Hopes were high for two of our own today as we excitedly turned up to watch Jan Morris and Jill Hartshorn play for a spot in the State Senior Pairs.

Representing Northern Suburbs

Having fought their way through the early rounds, they were representing Northern Suburbs in the final tussle between Macquarie, Mitchell and Northern Suburbs. The winner will go on, to represent Region 16.

Despite our enthusiasm, unfortunately the Beecroft girls were defeated by  Margaret Wild and Carol Martin of The Hills (Mitchell). Margaret and Carol played beautifully but could not rest on their laurels. They then went on to play Elizabeth Tulloch and Rosalind Lightfoot of Denistone (Macquarie). Macquarie didn’t have a morning game so had the advantage of rest but, then again, they didn’t get the morning practice! Which is best??

Senior and Open Pairs

On the other rink was the first Open Pairs play off between Macquarie and Mitchell. The winners also fronting up for an afternoon game, in this case against Northern Suburbs.Pairs by Checkbox 3D

Our girls may not have won their game but were nevertheless champions, as the overall Senior Pairs winners for Northern Suburbs.  There was a good contingent of Beecroft supporters cheering them on. We saw some good ends, not least of which was the last, in which we got a five.  Good way to finish. They’ll be back!

What was the final outcome?

Anne Hedger & Joan Wilson from Asquith beat the Hills girls in the afternoon 18-16 in the Open Pairs.

E Tulloch & R Lightfoot from Denistone beat the Hills girls in the afternoon 18-15.

The winners will onto the State Championships at Taren Point.
